polidox
Polidox is a small project, the aim of which is to provide aesthetically
spare and attractive, easy to navigate and read versions of important
political documents in well-formed and valid XHTML. These documents are
available for general use from the polidox website.
- Polidox provides important historical documents (primarily,
but not exclusively related to American political history) in
up to date computer file formats so that they can be studied and
used by scholars and the public independently of advances in
browser and other hypermedia display technologies.
- HFI distributes these documents free of charge on it's
website and through other Internet media.
Polidox is ongoing. Several documents such at the Magna Carta
and the Constitution of the United States, among others are already
posted online and available at the Polidox activity homepage,
http://www.humanetrix.org/polidox. Future development of this
activity will include the translation of our current body of
documents to XHTML2 when that standard is completed by the
World Wide Web Consortium as well as incorporating additional
historical documents into our archive, including the constitutions
of democratic nations around the world.
