humanthread
Humanthread is an internet and web application whose purpose is to
collect and archive the life experience of human beings as they would
tell the tale in their own voice. Humanthread makes the
experience of their lives available to anyone via a web interface
and though assorted peer-to-peer media distribution networks.
- Humanthread will be, when completed, a freely accessible
and permanently available digital library of oral and written
historical accounts as conveyed in the first person. It will
provide current generations a resource for formal and informal
study of the recent past and future generations a resource for
the study of our present.
- The data archived in the library will be made available for
scholarly analysis as well as formal and informal use by the public.
- In addition, the software developed to create this library
will be made publicly available for third party use through an
open source license so that independent groups may present their
oral history archives on the web absent the often prohibitive
costs of maintaining and developing a website independently.
